Trail Blazers' Brandon Roy gets medical clearance for back-to-back games

Guard Brandon Roy will no longer be restricted from playing in back-to-back games, and the limit on his minutes will be extended to about 25 a game, McMillan said Friday evening after meeting with team doctor Don Roberts.

However, Roy will be limited to 15-to-20 minutes when playing in the second game of a back-to-back.

In four games since returning from double-knee surgery, Roy has played an average of 19.8 minutes, posting averages of 8.3 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists while shooting 14-for-35 (40 percent) from the field.

He was held out of Wednesday's game at Sacramento because it was the second game of a back-to-back. Next week, the Blazers have two sets of back-to-backs.

Tonight marks the return of Joel Przybilla and Dante Cunningham, both of whom were traded to Charlotte for Gerald Wallace last Thursday. McMillan likened their departure to sending his kids off to college.

"I love both guys, I really do," McMillan said. "This is a tough business. I talked to both guys after the trade and it's like your kids leaving home. They are both good people and I hope everything works out for them."

Heading into Friday's game at the Lakers, both Przybilla and Cunningham had played in two games. Przybilla averaged 15 minutes a game, slightly more than he played in Portland, and was averaging 5.5 rebounds. He had yet to score while take three shots and two free throws.

Cunningham, who averaged 20 minutes a game with the Blazers, has played only nine minutes with the Bobcats. He was 1-for-8 from the field, 1-for-2 from the line and had yet to grab a rebound.

"They play the game the right way," McMillan said. "They helped us this season and the return tomorrow will be somewhat bitter."
