Should the NCAA Change College Basketball?
Greg Oden only played one year in college. Is that good or bad for college basketball?The NCAA often receives criticism for having too many rules and regulations. Whether it is recruiting rules, eligibility rules or game-related rules, the critics say there is much that needs to be changed.
This past offseason, the NCAA made some changes to college basketball. One of the hotest issues was text messaging during recruiting. The NCAA upheld a previous ruling to completely ban text messaging in recruiting. The NCAA also decided to push back the 3-point line 1 foot from 19 feet, 9 inches to 20 feet, 9 inches.
However, there are still other issues with the game that still receive a lot of attention from coaches and fans alike. Many coaches are calling for an expansion of the NCAA Tournament. Others want a modification to the "opening round" game. That's not to mention the continued debate about players only going to school for one year before bolting for the NBA.
