Top Pick Greg Oden Does it Right
Apparently, signing the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft about a week after he was selected isn't big news anymore.
Earlier this week, the Portland Trail Blazers announced they had signed Greg Oden of The Ohio State University (that's correct, isn't it Buckeyes' fans?).
Wow. No holdout, no trade demand. Just signed, sealed and delivered.
That's quite a contrast from what's happening closer to home.
The Milwaukee Bucks, who drafted Yi Jianlian of China with the No. 6 pick, are still waiting to learn whether the 7-footer will step foot in the city, and not when he's wearing another NBA team's uniform.
Can't agree with Yi's tactics. It's a privilege to play professional sports, not a right.
But I can't agree with the Bucks' decision to select him either. Milwaukee should have known full well what it was getting itself into.
Now, the Bucks sit, write letters to Yi and wait for a reply.
Meanwhile, Oden is in uniform and playing for the Trail Blazers' summer league team.
Care to guess which team is already getting better?
