Lawrence North High School boys' basketball player Greg Oden was named the 24 Hour Fitness and Student Sports player of the week after leading the Wildcats to a 78-59 victory over North Central in a game televised by ESPN. Greg Oden had 33 points on 13-of-18 shooting, 12 rebounds, four blocks and three assists as Lawrence North improved to 14-0 and stretched its winning streak to 30 games.

There will be a showdown between national players of the week when Greg Oden and Lawrence North face Jon Scheyer and Glenbrook ( Ill. ) North at Northwestern University on Feb. 11. Lawrence North remained No. 1 in the Student Sports Fab 50 national high school boys' basketball rankings. Glenbrook North is No. 11.
