Greg Oden and OSU Hold Off Tennessee

Greg Oden is making up for lost time.

In a game that finally gave Ohio State fans something to smile about, the No. 5 ranked Buckeyes edged No.20 Tennessee 68-66.

Star freshman Greg Oden had the best game of his young career with 24 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the Bucks (14-3). Oden hit 9-of-13 shots from the field, and all six of his foul shots - left handed because he still wears a brace on his right hand from surgery to reattach a ligament in his wrist. He also added four assists, three blocked shots and a steal.

A 3-pointer from Ron Lewis with 11.2 seconds left secured the win for the Bucks and gave them their first win in four tries against ranked teams this year. After losing to Florida, UNC and Wisconsin, Ohio State made Tennessee (13-4) their first victim. It’s the 17th consecutive home victory for OSU.

DeMarcus Cousins is a big PF who averaged 26 pts, 15 rebounds, 10 assists, 70% FG and 80% FT per game as a freshman in high school last year. DeMarcus Cousins has developing post moves, is an excellent rebounder, and a solid athlete. DeMarcus Cousins' ability to overpower players gives him a very high ceiling. DeMarcus Cousins has a 7'3" wingspan and 9'0" standing reach. DeMarcus Cousins is very raw. DeMarcus Cousins needs to work on his footwork and decision making mostly. DeMarcus Cousins offense is coming along fine, but he needs to become more of a leader on defense. DeMarcus Cousins consistency is also a problem against top competition.
